Migrating

Just testing to see if everything's migrated? Perhaps migrating only to delete it all, but there you go. :-)

Quick Fix Late

Bret pointed out that my contact link didn't work, so I've fixed it so you can e-mail me. I've also updated Rodney, CW and Tama's links in the blogroll. No time to work out much more than that! I need to find a volunteer bus driver who'd rather be in Kulin than Perth during the Red Bull Air Race. And I need to iron my pants.

Dee Underground

The trains really snake in the new tunnels under the city. By the afternoon rush most commuters walked the platforms and underground walkways like they walked them every day. Two storeys below William St is still William St.

I walked from Platform 7 above-ground through the city to the new Esplanade Station, caught the train to Leederville, ate a burger at Retro Betty's (so good) and then caught a train back to the new underground platforms at Perth Station. From here I took the underground tunnel under Wellington St and up into the old carpark on the Wellington St side of the Horseshoe Bridge.

Uncomplicated, all-new, a big change hidden, and snaky.

Flatland at the Blue Room

My first theatre-going in years and the first time I've entered the Blue Room since 1993 - and it's changed! Views of the city from the bar, fixed seating, and no stand-up comedians. One of Flatlands writers works in my office and at last there didn't seem to be a reason not to go to a play, especially a black comedy in a small space. Great to have the action so close and visible. Tonight was closing night but I enjoyed the experience and will try to get back to see more local productions. The lady next to me asked if I was also 'connected' to the theatre scene in Perth. Nuh-uh, but somehow the question sounded inclusive and so I might be brave enough to trot along again.

Like Money for Chocolates

Two weeks later and I've eaten at least $18 worth of fundraising chocolate - little Cherry Ripes, little Summer Rolls, little blocks of Crunchie... my workmates have eaten the rest of the box between them. That's $50 for the Venetians - minus whatever we paid for the box.

There's a seminar in Lockridge next week on grants and fundraising for community groups. Perhaps I should walk there.

Meditate While I Shuffle

J from Adelaide read my tarot in IRC last night. She saw an older man of adventure blccking my new beginnings. A sign that I shouldn't have trekked out to Belmont to see Die Hard 4.0. I don't know how to interpret it - but who can resist a story of romance, fear, adventure, family conflict, judgement and acceptance? We read them once and then went back and read them again.

Passing Spectacles

My glasses have gone missing - yellow and purple frames, expensive, almost useless and 404. I love my new laptop but I can barely see the screen, although that's not entirely due to the missing spectacles. I can see well enough without them at work - meanwhile, back at the studio apartment in a desirable beachside suburb, I'm considering adaptive technology.
